Proof of Attendance This quarter we have learned about many different connections between very different fields. For Toni Dove and specifically in her performance Lucid Possession, she connects many different topics we covered. In the presentation we are able to see her usage of robotics and how it ultimately plays in the finished piece. This presentation is about a girl named Bean who is able to connect with ghosts and spirits as well as get inside other peoples minds. In my opinion, what made this presentation so special wasn't as much the plot and storyline, but how it was presented. The use of robotic screens, lights and music made it very enjoyable to watch.  My favorite part of it was the presentation of the ghost. In the image above, we are able to see the way in which this ghost was created. Lights were projected on this meshy screen which allowed for the spirited look. While the storyline was not my favorite, the presentation and all the intricacies involved which allowed ...

https://news.wsu.edu/news/2022/03/10/cougs-in-space-launching-satellites-and-careers/ Space is one of the biggest and most unknown fields in regards to exploration. The vast parts of space make it beautiful yet very scary at the same time. There are stars, galaxies, and planets farther away from us than we could ever even try to imagine. The fact that space is infinite and has no ending point makes it truly out of this world. Trying to comprehend the size of this place in my head is imposdsible and this makes it a little bit scary. The potential for life outside of earth is very possible due to the extreme size as well as the unknown.  https://theconversation.com/are-the-northern-lights-caused-by-particles-from-the-sun-not-exactly-174019 Space has provided uswith beautiful visuals that are oftentimes seen all around us. Something that most have seen a picture or photograph of is the northern lights. The aurora Borealis are magnificent light patterns that can be seen in the sky of t...

https://analyticsindiamag.com/can-nanotechnology-build-the-ai-of-the-future/ Nanotechnology is a very complex field that requirex extreme precision and accuracy. This practice involves the manipulation of molecules or atoms for different industrial purposes. With this new found ability for scientists to alter structures and things at their most basin unit, the possibilities are truly endless for this field. This manipulation on such a tiny level, can have very large scale implications. We have observed the use of nanotechnology in the fields of medicine, security, food, and energy. https://sustainable-nano.com/2017/05/12/art-conservation-and-nanotechnology/ In fact, nanotechnology is beginning to have large impacts in the art industry. There are many different ways in which the application of nanotechnology can affect the art industry like the formation of new colors or art restoration. Specifically looking at the restoration of art, nanotech has allowed for the removal of oils, the re...

Proof of Attendance  As we continue to learn about new fields and relationships amongst them, the connection that art has with everything is very apparent. The ability to depict and tell stories through art, design, and animation is limitless. Moist recently, I was able to experience this through Jessica Irish's short film This Mortal Plastik . Throughout this film, Irish describes the negative impacts that plastic has had on our natural world and shows this through her animations and designs. Also, she explores different quotes from different figures throughout history that discuss the revolutionary infiltration of plastic into our society. When she provided a graph showing the amount of plastic being produced, I was amazed at the exponential growth experienced in only the last 15 years compared the the many decades before. Additionally, another very interesting fact was that she explained how the first productions of plastic were on the same day that Nazi's invaded in Germany...

https://www.technologyreview.com/2019/07/19/134113/superconducting-neurons-could-match-the-power-efficiency-of-the-brain/ Neuroscience is one of the most complicated scientific fields in practice today. At the center of this practice is the human brain. The brain is one of the most powerful things in the world with infinite amounts of capabilities. The different roles that each part as well as all the different nerve endings and biological components of it make it extremely complicated and complex to understand. With the extreme complexity that this structure exhibits, its connection with art is very apparent. https://www.mmaglobal.com/cognition While the brain controls every aspect of the human body in one way or another, one important function it regulates is our emotions. Through recent neuroscience studies only recently have we been able to observe the connections between art and emotions, specifically music. Two neuroscience professors at the University of Central Florida have eve...

There have been many advancements in the scientific field of bio technology. This practice has created lots of controversy amongst the world. The reason for this has to due with whether or not the alteration of a living being is seen as ethical or not. While it may be unethical, the practice of bio technology is truly groundbreaking in regards to the scientific realm. Through the continued progress in the field, we have begun to see incorporations of art.  There are many different examples of the fields of biotechnology and art being intertwined. A very good example and interesting one could be seen in the project "Victimless Leather". This was a project created by Paolo Antonelli in the early 2000's. He created a thumb sized jacket using the tissue of mice. This tissue however was made up of living cells He starter by cultivating and growing tissue cultures then formed them into a polymer layer in the shape of a coat. Learning about this combination of art and biotechnol...

Science and Technology have become very reliant on each other in recent years. The covid 19 pandemic serves as a very relevant example where this connection can be seen. Throughout the pandemic, there has been a very big push for people to get vaccinated. It has become almost impossible to live a normal life without being fully vaccinated. This has caused some concern amongst parts of the population that question whether or not the integrity of this vaccine is true. Conspiracies have been made linking this vaccine with a microchip being implanted into all of us. While it probably isn't true, it does bring up the idea of using technological microchips for scientific purposes. As we observe the possibility of technological microchips, there are many different people pioneering this new field. This can be observed with Elon Musks microchip Neuralink. This microchip connects electrodes through the brain that allows for helping with brain function and even possibly treating some disea...
