Week 3 Blog: Robotics and Art
Robotics and art have very prominent connections to each other. We often see these connections most easily in movies and television shows. when I think about this connection between the two, one of the first movies that comes to mind is the movie Wall-E. The main character of the movie is a robot named Wall-E who lives alone on the planet earth. He developed a personality and becomes very lonely on the planet. Throughout the movie, we as the viewers are able to establish a strong appreciation and connection with the lonely robot. A big reason for this is because of the artistic nature of his appearance. He has very big eyes as well as two arms that dangle in front of him. He is also very short and stumpy which adds to the almost cute like appearance.
Robots are becoming more and more apparent in our society today. While they have not yet been integrated into our every day lives. In the near future, it would not be surprising if they were observed on a daily basis. Robots have the abilities to perform tasks that may be undesirable and tedious to us humans which would be a very positive addition to our society. In Saudi Arabia, the first robot has officially become a citizen. This robot goes by the name of Sophia. An artistic element is very apparent by observing her face and appearance. She looks very nice and approachable.

Hi Jared,
ReplyDeleteI like your example of the movie Wall-E to show the connection between robotics and art. It’s fascinating to watch the robot Wall-E try to navigate his life on Earth and to empathize with him. The world is constantly coming up with new innovative ideas related to robots whether they are in movies, or a food delivery service riding around the UCLA campus.
Hello Jared,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your blog this week. I thought you made a really good connection between Wall-E and what we have learned this week. Our society is slowly integrating more and more robots much like Wall-E. I think this connection was important to make because of its relevance in our world today. Great job Jared!
